I am wondering if there is a correlation of over-vaccination and pancreatitis. My precious 9.5 LB mini daschund has had to deal with luxating patella, pancreatitis and now a collection of cholesterols that look like cataracts on her eyes. She is only four and I noticed after her vaccines when she was a year and a half, that all of a sudden, her collection of health issues popped up. I have amazing vets and eye specialists who do see a correlation of diet contributing to said conditions. But, I absolutely cannot get around the vaccine issue. I did ask for a micro-dose last time because she gets so lethargic and out of it. Any thoughts? I love everyone’s experiences and input.

I nearly lost a cat to a rabies vaccine. She recovered fully and will never have another vaccine. It was a terrifying experience.

Thank you for this post. I, too, believe our pets are over-vaccinated. I have 2 sweet 16-year old kitties, indoor pets who have no contact with the outdoors or other animals. But I live in Dallas County, and they require our animals to be up to date on rabies vaccine. I hate having to do this and would choose otherwise, but my vet has said often that if a pet bit a vet or tech, for instance, they would have to take your animal and quarantine them for a period of time. I can’t bear that and so have them vaccinated. :/

Thank you for acknowledging that pets do need vaccines to prevent some diseases (that an be fatal). Some people go too far the "other" way and believe that dogs and cats don't need any vaccines at all. That (in my opinion, for what it's worth, and that's probably not much) is just as dangerous as over vaccinating. We need to have a "middle ground" where dogs and cats are protected against infectious diseases that could make them very sick or kill them, and vaccinating them so much that the vaccines themselves begin to be problematic. I'm all for titer testing and not giving vaccines that are not needed. I am all for stopping all vaccines in older dogs (something my vet routinely does). But I simply cannot go along with the whole anti-vaccine movement. I've seen too many dogs in rescue die of preventable diseases.

Thank you so much for the information in this article! It’s so hard to get informed truth from most vets, because as the article says, they just aren’t up to date on the latest science.

I’m sure that this information could potentially save the lives of our beloved friends
